James 4:8 – “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.”
I’ve lived through chaos that could fill volumes. The kind of chaos that leaves your hands trembling at the sound of a door slamming, the kind that keeps you awake at night wondering if the next day will crush you or carry you.
For years, peace felt like a luxury item—something other people could afford but I couldn’t. My mind was a constant storm, my heart always bracing for impact.
Then Jesus stepped in.
Not in a “lightning bolt from the sky” kind of way, but in the quiet, steady whisper that I couldn’t shake. The Bible calls it “peace that surpasses understanding” (Philippians 4:7), and let me tell you—surpasses is the right word. Because it didn’t make sense. My life was still messy. The storms didn’t stop. But somehow, in the middle of it all, my soul stopped pacing the floor.
Jesus didn’t just calm the storm around me—He calmed the storm in me.
When I’m overwhelmed, He reminds me, “I am your refuge.”
When I feel unworthy, He says, “You are mine.”
When I can’t see what’s ahead, He whispers, “Trust Me.”
This peace isn’t fragile. It doesn’t depend on my bank account, my relationships, or whether life is “going right.” It’s anchored in the truth that the One who holds the world is also holding me.
And friend, if He can bring peace to my restless, anxious, battle-scarred heart… He can bring it to yours, too.
