“It is wise to believe something wonderful

is about to happen”. ~Anonymous

Welcome to Surviving with Dr. Chrissie — a space where truth meets healing and survival turns into purpose. I created this platform to give voice to the stories we’re often told to silence — the ones shaped by trauma, resilience, faith, and the long road to becoming whole again. Here, we talk about real life: the hard days, the messy healing, and the moments of grace that remind us we’re still standing. Through honest conversations, survivor stories, and a little bit of humor and hope, Surviving with Dr. Chrissie is more than a podcast or a blog — it’s a community. Because surviving isn’t the end of the story; it’s where the rebuilding begins.

What do I do with this fire?

As a survivor of sexual violence, I carry a fire in my chest that never goes out. It’s the kind of fire that doesn’t just burn—it demands action. I can’t unsee what I’ve lived through, and I can’t ignore the reality that so many others are walking the same dark road I once did.

So what do I do with all this passion?
I speak. I share. I show up. I educate people who would rather look away. I stand beside survivors who can’t yet stand on their own. I push for laws that protect us, not silence us. I take my pain and turn it into purpose.

Raising awareness isn’t just about statistics or campaigns—it’s about human lives. It’s about looking someone in the eye and letting them know, You matter. You are believed. You deserve justice.

My passion is not a burden. It’s my fuel. And every time I use it, I know I’m not just surviving anymore. I’m changing the world—one conversation, one training, one brave truth at a time.

  1. I appreciate your willingness to share. This topic hits very close to home for me, but also related to members of my family. I find that sharing in a trauma based support group in the past did make me stronger (however, I have not shared certain traumas through my blog yet). Somehow being able to share other heavy situations and find others who can relate has helped me to process most things. It does help knowing I am not alone. It is encouraging to see women who make it out of the darkness and have the strength to reach back and shine a light for them to find their way – even when the pain of some memories can be overwhelming at times.
